Abhishek Sarkar


Abhishek Sarkar is Assistant Professor, department of English, Jadavpur University. He has a B.A. (Hons.), an M.A., and an M. Phil. from the same department and has earlier served there as a Research Fellow. He teaches English Renaissance drama (especially Shakespeare), Metaphysical poetry, Augustan satire, nineteenth-century poetry and prose, Yeats, and literary criticism. His areas of interest are the literatures and cultures of early modern England and colonial Bengal. He has published with several refereed journals in these areas. He has received the Charles Wallace India Trust Fellowship for research-related visit to the UK.  He has presented a research paper at the 2013 annual conference of the French Shakespeare Society. He is Joint Co-ordinator of the ‘Shakespeare in Bengal’ project (under UGC Centre of Advanced Study scheme).  He is also the Co-ordinator of the Jadavpur University Society for American Studies (JUSAS).
